... and here he begins to penetrate through the mirror-like surface of the bottom of the jasmine jelly dish. Interestingly enough, the back of the sketch (first fingernail) shows how the artist carefully filled in the parts of Raphael's hands, hair, and halo that would be completely concealed by the dish.

In fact, as you see in the screencap above, the tips of Raph's fingers everging from the dish are the only thing you can see clearly in the final production image!
In Shadow of a Dream, you can see a painted cel, the A6, that comes in just after the image displayed above. Notice that this cel has dark airbrushing on a second unnumbered layer; you can see this airbrushing indicated in red pencil on the genga above. Again, none of this detail was visible in the broadcast image. For more on this issue, see the next item.
I traded a cross-dressed Touya to Spinizuey for these two gengas, a sign of how much of a "paper not plastic" collector I'd become by July 2004.
