Episode: 25 (Sakura and Another Sakura). Yukito is visiting Touya, who’s laid up after falling off a cliff in Spook Hill.
The fingernail shows the genga, with annotations dealing with instructions for mouth layers and an eyeblink.
This rough genga was probably drawn by Makoto Koga, who was animation director for this episode. Koga did this and ten other episodes of CCS and also worked on the first movie and the "Kero's Corner" extra for the second movie. A wide-ranging animator, he did character design for Di Gi Charat and directed episodes of Sabre Marionette J and Trigun. More recently Koga has contributed to Bleach (episode AD), Fullmetal Alchemist (ditto), and Princess Tutu (OP animation). His most high-profile assignment to date has been Sola, for which he was character designer and chief animation director.
Masako’s Cel Gallery has a luminous rough of Touya from the same scene, also by Koga.
