Cut 135. But when she realizes what Genzo is referring to, she comes alert and turns to him. “What do you mean ‘still have this’?” she says. “It’s your dad’s watch,” he replies, which puzzles Mayuko more. The second part of this sequence stresses this awkwardness by showing this pose in a close-up.
 This leads to a very oblique conversation, carried on while Mayuko accompanies him to his bus stop, holding an umbrella. (Walking together under an umbrella is often a token of a romantic attachment in Japanese culture.) The gist is that the two remind each other of how long they have known each other and the things they did together in childhood for enjoyment. That in turn sets up the situation in my next item.
Again I’ve featured the genga, with a rather vague rough in the first thumb and a much more finished post-genga shuusei in the second thumb. The set also came with the douga run, but that was not very interesting (just a partial turn) so I’ve left that unimaged.
