Episode 9 [Sakura and the Exciting Aquarium], cut 27. On her way to her date with Syaoran, Sakura stops briefly in the living room to check the bulletin board (where her household tasks for the day are listed). “You must be excited,” her father comments.
This fine background of the Kinomotos’ living room is very detailed, showing not only some of the academic father’s extensive library, but also a high-fidelity sound system and some interesting curios, including a miniature Easter Island head. (Fujitaka is an anthropologist, after all.) The sofa on which he is sitting was worked out on a separate sheet as a book layer, and in the featured image I’ve cropped the main background and digitally added the sofa. The thumbnails add unaltered scans of both sheets.
This episode was directed and storyboarded by Tetsuo Ichimura. Animation direction was credited to Izumi Kawada and Chihiro Nishikawa.
