Ep. 9, cut 27. On her way to her date with Syaoran, Sakura stops briefly in the living room to check the bulletin board (where her household tasks for the day are listed). “You must be excited,” he comments.
Featured here is the final form of the art board that was used by the background artist (as shown by the splashes of paint on the right margin). It also is a photocopy base, but many of the details have been revised in correction fluid, graphite, and in one case, in marker pen. See how the position of the top shelf behind Fujitaka has been repositioned. I’ve added a detail from this part of the sketch in the first thumb so that you can see the extent of the revisions; note too that the molding on the glass-front bookcase has also been altered. A second thumb gives a closer look at the finished background so you can appreciate the detail that went into this rather quick and non-essential scene.
