Episode 12 [Sakura and the Ice Ball-Sports Tournament], cut 52. Late as usual, Sakura dashes downstairs to find her father making breakfast. He explains that he hadn’t expected to come home but had to pick up some materials (for his latest archaeological dig). “That gave me a chance to see you and Touya,” he adds, and Sakura’s initial surprise turns to a smile.
As the holograph background (first thumb) is mostly a flat surface with hints of frames in the margins, I’ve featured only the nice A1 sketch of Sakura’s initial surprise. The image of her face is entirely photocopy, but this sketch was the one used by the background designer. If you look closely at these rather vague frames in the corners and edges, you’ll see that these have been carefully revised using correction fluid and emphasized strongly in holograph graphite. A detail of this fussy revision is added in the second thumb.
