Episode 13 ("Sakura and Meiling's Return"), cut 138. Touya and Yukito are having a conversation in the courtyard of the shrine where Yukito lives, which turns mysterious when Touya mentions that there is new power growing inside him. This makes Yukito transform into his Yue form, and as the glow generated by this move fades, we see that Yue’s feet are hovering a few inches above the stepping stones in the courtyard.
I got two versions of the layout for this frame and feature the simpler one, as this is the one verifiably used by the background artist. The base, as usual, was a studio-made photocopy of Yue’s feet and the stones over which he’s hovering. All the color penciling is holograph: notably an artist has changed the shape of the stones, which were originally rectangular, to round. The first thumb shows a detail from this sketch, which shows the corrections made in correction fluid (erasing the sharp edge of the rock) and in colored pencil (roughing out the forms of the two visible stones.
The second thumb adds the second version of the layout, which is entirely photocopy, including the coloring.
