Cut 50. The scene shifts to Cephiro Castle, where Presea is pressing Alcyone about the whereabouts of the series’ big boss. Emotionally, she warns that Guru Clef may die otherwise.
Featured above is a fine rough sketch by episode animation director Atsuko Ishida. Compare this to the layout image (thumbnail) it elaborated. There Alcyone seems sulky: melancholy, but in a self-serving way. Ishida’s revision (and the final image) is more complex, as if Presea’s poignant appeal has awakened some similar emotion in the villainess’s previously cold heart.
