Episode 18 [Cat and Dog], cuts 48, 52. The adventurers have arrived in Ōto Country, where they get possession of a café. In a night-time scene, while the others sleep, Mokona is contacted by the Time-Space Witch Yūko, who advises the group to name their café “The Cat’s Eye.”

This singleton sketch, apparently a layout correction, showed up randomly on a dealer’s site. It is very faint and may be a first-level effort that was later cleaned up by the artist. It shows the image of Yūko, projected from the jewel on Mokona’s forehead, along with some directions on how to animate the cut. Though very preliminary, though, the pose is identical to the screen cap, and so it must be the work of one of the senior animators, likely the episode animation director. The notes on the top identify the episode and cut, and as Yūko so rarely appears in the cross-over series, I found it well worth having, especially as Tsubasa art is so scarce.

Animation director for this episode (and for Ep. 10) was Noboro Sugimitsu [杉光 登], a wide-ranging key animator and animation director. Among his more visible assignments were extensive work on both seasons and specials of Mushishi, plus being character designer and chief animation director for Legend of the Condor Hero (2001) Charlotte (2015), and the anime film Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva (2009).
