Again I’ve featured the genga with its very distinctive “Hikari” self-conscious look. (As noted, Takata was soon after Hikari’s character designer, so the resemblance is no accident.) As with the A1 keyframe, this image was radically revised from the early layout conception (first thumb) in which the expression is more dramatic and the perspective quite different. This sketch set preserved Takata’s rough (second thumb) that set this straight and toned down the emotion from distraught to cute.
