Sou’s actions in removing her arm required two partial keyframes (not imaged); then as she lets go, Sui’s head rolls inertly to her right (our left).

The very fine genga is featured above, and I’ve added two interesting earlier stages in the thumbs. The first is the rough (first thumb), which shows a rather brasher, thick-lined approach quite different from the detailed approach of the shuusei artist of the previous item. This sketch set did not include roughs for each keyframe, so it’s difficult to tell if this is a difference in drawing style, or just a somewhat more careless approach to a less important part of the cut.

Notice particularly the rather ineffective posing of Sou’s hand: it’s too big and the digits look a bit like an octopus rather than a real set of fingers. So a partial pre-genga shuusei was done on light green paper. These sketches I’ve tended to attribute to the chief animation director, Kyuta Sakai, as they show a similar style and care for such details in all the episodes for which I have art. Notice that the hand is smaller and more natural looking, and Sui’s pose has been shifted so that her head rolls back a bit more.
