Cut 139. The two start an awkward conversation, while Karada holds the same pose as in the last cut. Then suddenly she looks up to find Tetsu has gotten up and walked off.
Again I’ve featured the genga, and added the animation director’s rough (this time a really amateurish effort) and Hasegawa’s elegant revision. Notice how much the senior artist reduced that too-perky nose to make Karada look adult rather than shoujo. And again, there is that hint of eyelashes just visible past the bridge of the nose.
