This cel may show the series protagonist up a gum tree, or more likely, a eucalyptus. This, appropriately, is a “blinky” cel, as you can tell from the open-eyed pose in the unmatching A8 douga that came with it. (The douga for the A2 cel, probably, stuck to the cel and had to be sacrificed to free it.)

Mysteriously shipped to Sandy, his human “owner” and partner in magic, he alternates between a deep “magic sleepytime” sleep, in which he is indistinguishable from a plush toy, and brief (episode-long) waking periods. During this time, he introduces Sandy to the mysteries of Koala-Walla Land and the mystery of her vanished grandfather.

In this regard, Blinky seems very similar to his counterpart Cerberus in Cardcaptor Sakura, who also spends much of his time either as a magical creature teaching her pupil about Clow Reed’s sorcery, or else as an inert plush animal. Kero-chan’s “stuffed toy” mode is a conscious ploy, however; he doesn’t actually fall asleep. Well, he does sleep, but he has a bad habit of levitating around Sakura’s room while he’s dreaming, which is why the bedroom he finally gets is inside a shut drawer of her desk.
