I’ve been fortunate in collecting artwork from this series (at least from the first season, which I think is as good as 12-episode anime is allowed to be). But never more so than when I won this stunning pan sketch of the injured Shinku at the start of “The Scene” in Episode 12. This domineering devil-doll could have been a stereotypical horror element, except that she too has her inner demons. And this moment, when her fears and insecurity get the upper hand, is both surprising and dramatically effective.
