One of the perennial classics of Japanese anime, Kitarō was first adapted to anime in 1968 (in black and white!), then twice more (1971-72 and 1985-88) during the "Golden Age." These cels come from the fourth avatar of the series, which ran in 114 episodes (and two movies) from 1996 to 1998.

Actually, some of these may come from the earlier 1980s version: many cels from both series were sold by Toei as souvenirs to tourists who took the studio tour. These were routinely trimmed down to fit the envelopes in which they were sold, removing any information that would help identify them. However, the character development differed slightly between the two, and 90s cels are usually in sharper condition. The gallery also includes a few genga that I've been able to identify as from Kitarō 4.
