As Ginko lists the things the mother most desires to remember – her husband, her home, her cooking – Kaji looks at her with sadness and deep concern, knowing that it’s possible that she might some day forget that he is her own son.
The first layout is very expressive and well worth a visit. However, the background did not fit the plan for the room in which the scene takes place, so it was replaced by a second layout. There Kaji's head is much more schematically done, but at least the wall to his left now matches other perspectives.
