Sayo turns to Kaji and asks him to accompany her on her quest. The boy knows this will lead to trouble and remains still and quiet.
But he does go with her, as the next scene shows. And with what result? Well, go watch the episode: it is a bittersweet resolution, as when Sayo goes out in the world, she has to face unpleasant realities. Yet in this respect that memory-eating parasite turns out to be her benefactor rather than her predator.
