Cut 116. Yuusuke suddenly remembers that the rest of the “family,” as well as Natsumi, must also be plummeting to certain doom. Noelle shows him how Mikael has enclosed the others safely inside a huge powerball and is transporting them gently back to earth. Sequence numbers: A1, D1.
When we last saw Mikael, he was slipping from demented frenzy into deep despair. It is interesting to see how calm and focused he is immediately after Noelle saves the day. As the cut develops, he turns toward the camera and smiles in satisfaction – we assume at Noelle. But in fact we soon see he’s smiling at Silky, whose attempt to thwart the angelic makeover has now been foiled.
The douga shows the partial A1 douga. Mikael’s left arm is on a D1 layer because he’s got to fit that big powerball (and the airbrushed layer) between his hands.
