Chiaki/Sinbad rates a magical helper too, in this case a black-winged evil angel fledge named Time Access. Clad in blue jeans, the cheeky little guy plays his diabolical role to the hilt at first, until it gradually becomes clear that he too has a hidden agenda. In this case, he’s madly in love with Fish Fin (an affection that’s partly returned). And so as Chiaki/Sinbad (inevitably) becomes romantically attracted to his rival Maron/Jeanne, so too this improbable background love interest moves forward.
He’s possibly the most desired character to collect in this series. I was lucky enough to get this fine image of him (from Ep. 14) as he looks over his shoulder at a totally bewildered Fish Fin and gets ready to exclaim, “I can’t explain it, but I still love you!!”
The voice acting role went to Akiko Yajima, a highly versatile female seiyuu who continually crossed the gender line to play both male and female roles. On the masculine side, Yajima created the little boy Shinnosuke in the long-running Crayon Shin-chan saga, as well as Kohaku in Inuyasha and Kuu in Haibane Renmai. Her female roles are equally prominent: Dorothy Wayneright in The Big O, Relena Darlian/Peacecraft in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and (amazingly enough), Haydée in Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo.
