This lovely bank cel shows Umi, the water knight, in first-stage armor in the process of casting her attack spell out toward the viewers. The nicely foreshortened arm really does “stick through the screen”, while the streams and globs of water tie the composition together and provide a strong illusion of depth. In fact, it's hard to imagine that the two layers, A26 (Umi) and B5 (water) are all on a single flat plane.

I especially like the dynamic way in which Umi’s hair seems to be flowing behind her in a way that suggests a whirlpool. The cel was in unusually good shape, with very minimal line fading and the layers carefully separated with a sheet of plastic between them.
