Episode: 68 (Sakura, the Past, and Clow Reed): “Seasons come and go naturally, Clow Reed tells Sakura, adding, I am just like the fallen leaves that have experienced the change in seasons.” Sakura suddenly finds herself in an autumn landscape, with the sun setting and dead leaves swirling around her. Sequence number: A18.

Notice how the “camera” angle is heavily tilted to the right, giving the image a “nightmare” quality and making it unclear whether Sakura is running toward us or falling back into the sunset.

The background imaged here is a laser-printed copy (see first thumbnail for a closer look). But it now looks as if the actual backgrounds used to film this and adjacent cuts were in fact digitally manipulated copies rather than actual watercolor paintings. Follow this link for a look at some of the authentic production backgrounds, including two laser copies, that verifiably went under the camera to create the cuts leading up to this scene.

You can see the A10 in this sequence over in Rallihir's gallery.
