After the power transfer, Yue lowers the drained Touya onto the bed where Yukito had been resting at the beginning of the scene and stands over him for a moment. Sequence number: C15 (key).

Cels from this cut have appeared for sale from time to time. But as Yue lowers his benefactor rather quickly, some of these earlier cels look a bit as if he’s doing a WWF body slam rather than giving poor Touya a soft place to recover from his sacrifice. This cel (pricy but priceless!) is the key image that shows him safely deposited, and it shows Yue beginning to adopt an uncharacteristically gentle, solicitous look.
“You are just like Yukito,” Sakura says to Yue, a bit later in the manga version of this scene.
“In what way?” the puzzled Protector asks.
“In every way,” she responds, closing her eyes and smiling.
It’s hard to argue with logic like that while you’re looking at a cel like this.
Forever Dreaming has the D13 (Touya almost down).
SENSEI CHECK!
The bottom margins of this layer were left blank to make room for a top layer showing the covers on the bed, which move a little as Touya comes down. I’ve suggested this with a thin strip of darker art paper. It’s not the same color as in the screen cap, but I thought the darker shade fit the cel better than any of the oranges I tried out. Happily, I had two sheets of paper that were nearly an exact match for the wallpaper in the room behind Yue, one for this cel and one for [move ahead to the next item. . . .]
