Episode 12: Osaka Rhapsody, cut 74A. The Hyper Police team, called to Osaka to meet up with the Buddhist priest they’ve been contracted to protect, are starting to get distracted in the bustling city streets. Sakura, a native of the city, calls them to order and tells them to take care of business first -- in this case visiting a weapons shop and haggling with the owner over a new gun.

Above is the delightfully Sakuresque A1 END genga. The sly fox-spirit’s knowledge of things Osakan permeates this image, a good instance of how sometimes closed-eyed portraits are more impressive than open-eyed ones.
This episode was directed by series regular Atsushi Takada, who also did four other episode, including some of the best. Animation director was Kazuo Takigawa, who also worked on Dragon Ball Z, Full Metal Alchemist, and One Piece. Takigawa was also animation director for Episode 38 of Inuyasha, which Dylan Acres notes was marked by playful moods and expressive faces.
