Episode: 9 (Close Encounter and After the Rain Bath). Cut 190. Depressed by events, Mayuko has a long talk with Genzo, her childhood friend who’s come to live nearby, and then she walks with him to the bus stop in the rain. The talk breaks up her depressed mood, and when he starts to board the bus, she suddenly smiles and starts to call to him.
This charming little scene was designed as a whole, although it was broken twice by cuts to Genzo. Above is the B1 key, a simple but luminous portrait of Mayuko, suddenly looking cheerful for the first time in a couple of episodes. It is slightly oversized because in the first part of the scene she’s seen from a distance, against the side of the bus.
