Cut 294. Mikael at first is in despair; then in one final act of will, he gathers a bundle of torn-out pages and lifts them heavenward, just as the Durian Comet becomes visible. Sequence numbers: A1, B1.

This is a stunningly painted pan cel, representing Mikael’s intense, sweaty face and the bundle of paper he’s clutching with remarkable realism. As with other cuts in this scene, the studio rapidly alternated two similar but not identical cels to make him look as if he were quivering all over in his all-consuming desire for angelic status.
In fact, Gecko Blue Cels has the A2/B2 mate to this cel, so if you want to see Mikael quiver you can simply switch quickly between her site and mine. ^_~
