Oh, that has got to hurt, even if you are a CG character!
See the thumbnails for the layout 4 and the next set of gengas (B8/D8) that shows the yokai beginning to disintegrate from the force of Gojyo's impaling blow.
The screen cap shows how the graphic nature of this image is both accented by having the background suddenly turn to a glaring white, and at the same time blurred a little, so as not to rub the viewer's eyes in it.
