Episode 45 - Desperate Situation, Crisis upon Lantis, cut 254. A major scene: The villainess Nova has separated Lantis from Hikaru in another dimension and (it seems) uses two monsters to direct their attacks at each other. Lantis first realizes this, and Nova, sensing his loss of resolve, mocks him, saying, “Why aren’t you using your full strength? Is it that you’re afraid of hurting Hikaru?” This layout, a fine portrait of Nova at her most sinister, is worked up quickly in a series of light, thin pencil strokes with shadows added in blue. The artist, possibly the episode’s art director, was certainly no slouch . . . but move on to the next image . . .
