Episode 20 (The Unbelievable Truth About the Legendary Magic Knights!), cut 212. This is the first of four layouts from the Princess’s emotional confession to the Knights at the climax of the first season. As Pillar of Cephiro, she admits, she promised to devote her love and attention to her world and all its inhabitants, forsaking up any love she might have for any one man … and she bows her head … A very simple but powerful image.
Update (9/30/17): Recently I had reason to pull these sketches out of storage briefly for regular maintenance. In doing so, I scanned them again and deleted the contrasty scans I'd used when I originally uploaded these items in May 2005. The current scans give a much more faithful record of these faint but evocative pencil-on-paper images.
