Episode: 46 (Sakura and the Last Judgment): The climax of Sakura’s most difficult ordeal comes when she is finally able to break through the magic that has made her forget the one she loves the most, and she sees, as if in a vision, the image of Yukito. At first she sees only his back, standing on a hill under a blossoming cherry tree; then he turns toward Sakura, and the petals blow all around him in a glorified transfiguration. Sequence number: E10.
This is another wonderful cel that came my way at the closing of Cherry Snow’s gallery. It was accompanied by a laser copy background based on the broadcast, in which the cel (coated with black paint to prevent pinholes of light) was filmed against a glaringly backlit white ground, which partially washes out the image.
As the cel came with a piece of rice paper to prevent the black paint from sticking , I got a nicer effect by backing this translucent paper with a bright yellow mat and scanning the two together.
